DRINKS | The Print Room, Paddington, Sydney

Paddington has always been one of my favourite suburbs in Sydney. Iconically known as the ‘fashion district’, it has some great boutiques lining Oxford St and pocket sized cafes and bars peppered throughout the tree lined back streets. The newest addition to Paddington just in time for Summer? The Print Room. A gorgeous little wine and cocktail bar with an Art deco/vintage decor that makes you feels like you are stepping back to 1800’s. Owner, Leeroy Petersen avoided overt publicity for the new venue, preferring to get a feel for what the area was looking for, first. “We’re getting a great following from all the locals in the area,” he says.

“The stylist, Lucia Bram, brought in the props to give it an Art Deco feel.” Vintage prints from the venue’s past feature, hung in clusters along muted peach walls and typewriters and telephones are scattered around the space. There are areas for large groups and more intimate nooks, as well as an outside veranda. The centrepiece is the bar backed with a gleaming wall of bottles.

It’s not just an evening wine bar, it is also great for meetings as they offer a speakeasy tea and coffee menu As for food, there is a selection of meat and cheese boards, antipasto plates to share and corn bread with crab salad and guacamole.

Tip? When ordering a cocktail, chat to the bartender, who will then tweak a drink to your liking with a focus on what’s in season.
